Boys Leather Jacket

Jackets for boys and men will never go out of style. Here are some styles to choose from.

As a boy or a young man, you will have experimented with jackets at some stage of your life. Jackets for men are available in a variety of styles, cuts and fabrics, but most men tend to favour leather jackets.

However, not every man will look good in a leather jacket, or carry off the leather jacket he just purchased with the right amount of attitude. Trust us, it’s not about the material, the current fashion trend or the man’s age; many leather jackets misfire because men pick the wrong fit or length. As a man lusting after a leather jacket, you have to consider your age, size, overall physique and your wardrobe before you zero in on a jacket you like. Here’s how you can choose:

Classic style. This one has a clean, straight silhouette and no zips, pockets or embellishments. It is the cleanest style in leather jackets – it looks as good on a pair of jeans as it does on a pair of well-fitted trousers. Bought in plain black or a deep brown, these jackets can be worn with straight fit navy blue jeans, black leather pointed-toe shoes or black loafers, and a classic white shirt. This ensemble can easily be worn to work or to a party. Slim, athletic men can rock this look with panache.

Boys Leather Jacket

Official style. This one’s great for those men who are allowed to dress semi-casually to work. Clean-cut to the point of being a military jacket, this style is timeless and looks great on very young men with narrow torsos and athletic legs. The official style leather jacket looks the best in plain black, over a crisp white shirt tucked into severely cut dark blue jeans. Add pizzazz to the look with a startling leather belt in red or white – this pop of colour will break the monotony of the look, make you look younger, and add a fun element to an otherwise severe style.

Hoodie style. This one’s for teenaged boys and young men in colleges and universities. A folding pocket to tuck away the hoodie when not needed is desirable – this way, you can use the jacket at semi-formal dos with a pair of fitted black trousers. Alternatively, go the whole hog and make the look fun and interesting by wearing your hooded leather jacket over a patterned or floral shirt. If you’re using the hoodie, make sure you wear denim pants or cargo pants. Complete your look with funky sneakers.

Bomber style. This is a throwback to the James Dean era, and several boys and men continue to rock this jacket even today. However, balancing the rest of your ensemble with the jacket’s many pockets can get tricky – the rule is to wear a well-fitting pair of straight-cut jeans and leather shoes with this jacket. A simple black or white T-shirt underneath the jacket gives the desired laid-back look.
